The Kichwa Nation of Salasaca is the most vibrant indigenous culture of Ecuador. Rich with color and tradition, the Salasacan people dress in their traditional wears hand woven and adorned with symbols telling a story of their ancestors.

Exquisite Andean Textile Art
The Indigenous community of Salasaca is known for their extraordinary craftsmanship made with100% natural dyes derived from plants and vegetation of their region. Victoria and Marcelino are skillful in this ancient art of weaving. This Inti Raymi ceremonial dancer speaks of their ancient celebration of a good harvest, their honor of Mother Earth, their connection to the natural world, and their marriage ceremony. This piece was crafted by Marcelino Chango of Salasaca.

The Inkan Culture is seeded from an ancient tradition handed down from generation to generation. Their Inkan calendar tells the story of their planting seasons, harvesting time, family, animals plus their ceremonies and festivals. It also speaks of their year round work of craftsmanship that sustains their culture and provides a sacred link to their ancestral lineage. |
